Shuto League Team Introduction

Kichijoji Wild Turkey Rugby Football Club

Team Name: Kichijoji Wild Turkey Rugby Football Club
Team HP: http://www.kwtrfc.jp/
Founded: 1986
History: The club was founded by a group of old men who like to drink in Tokyo's suburb of Kichijoji. One night, one of the old fellers stood up in the bar and proclaimed "We can't just sit around doing nothing but drinking all the time! Let's try playing rugby!" As a result, on founding, a number of team members had never even played rugby before, but the team has thrived and continued on up to this day.
Contact: Yasuyuki Okamoto
Team Members: The team members are made up of the broadest possible age range from 18 year old students to 60 year old fogeys. With a range of players on fire with a desire to win to those who just like to toss a ball about on the weekend, to those just looking to make a couple of good mates, our team is enjoyed by all kinds and all levels of player.
Joined Shuto: 2003
Jersey: White Jersey with a violet and black band. There are also personal red coloured jerseys.
Training: Musashino Central Park ("Green Park") 15 minutes from Kichijoji or Mitaka.
Philosophy: The team philosophy is "win or lose, enjoy a good drink". For us, rugby is often a thin disguise for going out drinking. We are always following up with fun and a good laugh.
Team Goal: Our aim is to become the top team in the Shuto League! We get many new players who come back and tell us "We're glad we joined the Turkeys! We have the most fun here!" If you're interested in playing rugby and don't know where to go, you should definately come and join the Wild Turkeys!
